Sunday Afternoon Walk

Pathway to "paradise."
We are privileged to have a natural preserve, horse farm, woods, creek, and a place our kids call "paradise" located behind our home. On Sunday, Rich and Leighton took a hike in search of deer. Not a deer could be found but horses will do.

Bowling on Fall Break

The kids are on Fall Break (yeah) and Rich took the day off because the forcast looked favorable to go hiking at a state park. Well, it was sunny - but windy and very brisk so we whimped out. We decided to do an indoor activity instead - bowling! While the kids were bowling, I thought back to one of the first times we took them bowling and Leighton was just a little thing. My how times flies and kids grow. They are so fun and growing way too fast. Olivia will soon be a teenager and Alexandra is definitely a tween! Leighton is all boy but every once in a while we see that soft, tender heart come through. Just a few weeks ago, Leighton and I were walking to school and at one point he reached for my hand to hold. This caught me by surprise mainly due to the fact that there were many cars going by and some of those cars had students attending Lantern Road. My heart melted.

Christmas in October

Olivia heard on the radio that The Sound of Music was coming to Beef and Boards here in Indianapolis beginning October 2nd. Knowing that Grandma Marilyn was coming to town on October 2nd and knowing that The Sound of Music is one of her very favorite movies, we thought what a perfect gift we could give to her. After the soccer games on Saturday, we came home for lunch and surprised Grandma Marilyn with an early Christmas gift . . . tickets to Beef and Boards (dinner and theatre) for Saturday night.

We had a delicious dinner and enjoyed the live presentation of The Sound of Music. For the rest of the weekend, if you listened closely, you could hear voices quietly and not so quietly singing "Doe a deer . . ." or "Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens . . ." Fun memories were made this night.
