Looking Back on Past First Days of School

Leighton's First Day of School 2008 -'09

Leighton woke up after his sisters had left for school. He ate his breakfast, trying two different kinds of cereal and not liking either, he opted for blueberry waffles. After getting dressed, brushing teeth and geling hair, we played a quick game of Connect Four and then took some pictures and headed to the bus stop for the 8:30 a.m. pick up. Lantern Road Elementary starts their day at 8:50 a.m. so he has plenty of time in the morning. Boys don't require much fussiness so it will be a quiet morning after the girls leave. Leighton slightly fractured his ring finger on his left hand last week so hopefully the splint will keep him from injurying it anymore. I'm so glad it wasn't his right hand. Small blessings mean a lot.
Leighton already had a homework assignment - a poster all about him!

Have a super first day of 2nd grade! We're proud of you, Leighton!

Alexandra's First Day of School 2008-'09

Alexandra's alarm went off at 6:20 a.m. (a far cry from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. over the summer), but she was excited to get ready for her first day of intermediate school. Eat breakfast, get dressed, do hair, etc., etc., choose shoes, choose another pair, go back to other pair. Oh, and don't forget to paint toe nails on the way out the door and take pictures before catching the 7:15 a.m. bus. Last school year, Alexandra didn't get out of bed until almost eight o'clock. A rude awakening this year, but she did awesome and I hope her enthusiasum continues throughout the year!

Have an awesome first day 5th grade! We're so proud of you!

Olivia's First Day of School 2008-'09

Is it possible that summer vacation is over and school is back in session? Yep! As fun and fast as it was, time to get back into the swing of school meetings, homework, soccer practice, soccer games, homework, intramurals, band, guitar lessons, homework, school dances (what? yes, that's part of 7th grade), homework, after school activities and clubs, homework, etc. Mom's taxi service is back on the road. Life is good

Olivia's alarm went off at 5:55 a.m. (far cry from 10:00 a.m. all summer). Time to shower, dress, eat breakfast, fix hair, etc., etc., take some pictures and get on the bus at 6:59 a.m.

Olivia & Erica excited to start school!

Have a great first day of 7th grade! We're proud of you!

Getting Ready for Junior High School

We went last week to Fishers Junior High to pick up Olivia's schedule, walk through her classes, catch up with friends, and write many checks. We went back the following day so she could "fix-up" her locker and walk through her classes one more time. Thankfully, I was the one making the wrong turns and getting lost, not Olivia.
